This was the shock result of the day as Ogra Colmcille turned over Drumsurn but closer examination will show that Drumsurn were down to the bare bones. They were without a number of key menu due to injury and including Ciaran and Ryan Mullan.
Cahir Mullan was unable to play due to the county minors being in action next Sunday and Manager Richard Ferris was forced to give debutes to three of last year’s under 16 team.
Still it was a good win for Ogra who scored their first ever victory over St. Matthew’s. Ogra were reduced to fourteen men early in the game.
Drumsurn scorers: Gerard Curley (1-00), Ronan McNickle, Pierce McNickle, Ciaran Ferris (0-02) each
Ogra Colmcille scorers: Barry Kelly (1-03), Thomas Devlin (0-05), Dwayne Owens (0-02), Niall Martin (0-01)

An under strength Senior team missing a string of players made the trip over the Glenshane to play Drumsurn in the All County Division 2 League on Sunday evening. Playing against a strong breeze it was Drumsurn who scored the first point of the game however it did not take Ogra long to equalise with a point and Ogra went further ahead a few minutes later after Barry Kelly scored an excellent well worked goal.
However, disaster soon followed when Ogra had a man harshly dismissed for an off the ball incident. Despite playing with only fourteen men it was Ogra who went on to dominate the last fifteen minutes of the first half and playing with a strong wind at their back went 1-06 to 0-02 ahead at the break.
The second half was a much tighter affair though it was Ogra who increased their lead with the first score of the half. Drumsurn replied with a point and were then controversially awarded a goal by the referee after a goal mouth scramble. Spurred on by the goal Drumsurn continued to press for scores and indeed could have equalised from the penalty spot but the eventual shot hit the post and Ogra goalkeeper Mark Bell was able to clear his lines. Ogra kicked on and notched up a further two points to win by five points in the end.
This was a fantastic result for the team despite being a man down for three quarters of the game. The whole team worked tirelessly and the effort was exceptional throughout. Congratulations must go to the management and backroom team and hopefully this result can springboard the team to greater things for the rest of the season.
